Friday - May 22, 2009

Today, we ordered pizza and then we started to watch the rest of the PowerPoints when we got interupted by the man that is taking Mrs. Parker's job. We went outside and showed him the digsite. Because of this, we never got to see my PowerPoint in class so, I am unable to make corrections.

PowerPoint Presentation

Today, we first cleaned out our square buckets and organized them. Then Mr. Thames showed our PowerPoint to the class. He showed everyones except Joanna and I. He is going to show ours on Friday.

Cleaning Day

Today, we went outside and cleaned up Tel Ya'ar because today is open house. I picked up the weeds around Tel Ya'ar. The other jobs were to finish square D1, to straighten the baulk in C4, to make stairs, and to clean out the shed. Today, we are going to close Tel Ya'ar for the season.

Lab Day

Today, we cleaned a lot of artifacts. On Friday, I was not there so today I found out that we finished our square. We also turned in our PowerPoint projects.

Block Day

Today, we went outside and it was really hot. We moved a lot of dirt. We are almost done with our square. We also had fruit break and Mr. Thames brought us pop sickles. I will not be in class on Friday because I will be in Waco for State.

Tuesday - May 12, 2009

Today, I became the square supervisor and Nick became the square supervisor for Bravo team. We hit the floor in our square and he also found the hand of a juvenile skeleton. It is in the baulk so we are just leaving it there. Bravo team found a pot that had a scroll in it.

PowerPoint Day

Today was our last day in class to work on our PowerPoint. I am almost done with them. I just have to find an example of the blue fabric. The PowerPoint are due next Monday so I have a week to find it.

Friday - May 8, 2009

Today, we only had three people in class because the rest were taking AP test. Brant, Analisa, and I were the three people and we worked on square D1. We did not find anything but we moved a lot of dirt. Square D1 only has about 18 cm to go before we hit the floor. Mr. Thames also bought us orange slushies.

Block Day

Today, we did so more recovery work. I worked with Bravo team today because Nick was sick. I carried a bunch of buckets and it was really hot. At break, we had pop sickles so thank you Mr. Thames. We also got interrupted by the seniors because they were having a water gun fight.

Tuesday - May 5, 2009

Today, we went outside and did recovery work. Our team worked on fixing our baulk and the other team worked on fixing the C4 baulk. Tel Ya'ar has a lot of damage to it so we still have a lot of work fixing it up.

Monday - May 4, 2009

Today, we went outside to the dig site and did some survey work. We just walked around looking for any artifacts that we saw that had be exposed by the rain. Then after that we went inside and work on our PowerPoint.

Friday - May 1, 2009

We worked on our PowerPoint again. I finally found a example of a skeleton. Now, I need to find an example of the burlap sack and blue fabric. Then put it in the PowerPoint, then I will be done.

Wednesday - PowerPoint

We worked on our PowerPoint again today. I made a lot of progress but still have a long way to go. We are probably going to stay inside the rest of the week so we will probably work on our PowerPoint on Friday.

PowerPoint

Since, it was pouring we stayed inside. We worked on our PowerPoint. Mr. Thames said we are probably not going outside the rest of the week because it is suppose to rain. He said we are going to work on our PowerPoint instead.

Baseball Game

Today, I was not in class because I had a baseball game.

Friday - April 24, 2009

Today we only had one team since everyone left early for prom. Brant, Nick, Ashlee, and I were the only ones in class. We all worked in square D1. We found a bowl. Something that I think is cool is when you get to the floor the dirt just scrapes away and you can tell it is the floor.

Block Day

Today we had class for an hour and a half and it was really hot. Our group worked on our square and we found 5 artifacts. We found a bowl, a cup, a pot, a utensil that looks like you use to stir things, and something in the baulk. I am not sure what it is because Mr. Thames made Brian bury it again because he pulled it out of the baulk. The other team found some artifacts but i am not sure what they found.

Tuesday - April 21, 2009

Today since we were missing the juniors because they went to Baylor, I worked with Bravo team. Bravo team worked on straightening out their baulk. Alpha team worked on their square and a drainage system. Bravo team found a blue pot.

Lab Day

Today we had lab day and GJ and I did research on how to determine a skeletons age, race, and gender. The rest of our team worked on cleaning the rest of the tablet. The other team cleaned pots and glued them back together.

Rain Day - April 17, 2009

Today we stayed inside and cleaned artifacts. Our team worked on our tablet and the other team worked on some pots.

Wednesday - April 15, 2009

Today we had a long period class and it was really hot. Our team kept working on square D1. Bravo team finished fixing square C1 and then started working on C3. Today was probably our last day to work this week.

Tuesday - April 14, 2009

Today Bravo team worked on fixing square C1 and started C3. Our team still worked on D1. No one found anything. I think it is suppose to rain Friday so I am not sure if we are going to be able to dig that day.

Today we did the same thing. Our team worked on D1 and Bravo team finished their baulk party. We did not find any artifacts.

Monday - April 6, 2009

Today even though it was Monday we went outside and dug. Our team worked on our square while Bravo team finished their baulk party. We also found out that people have been sneaking into the dig site and messing with it and Mr. Thames is mad.

Friday - April 3, 2009

Today we went outside and our team worked on our square. The other team finished knocking down the baulk. We did not find anything, so it was a pretty boring day.

Arpil 1, 2009

Today we actually went outside. We were not able to work on our squares because they were too wet, so we did a couple of different things. Brant and I worked on building a drainage system and the rest had a bock party. They tore down the bock in between C4 and D4.

Baseball Game

Today I was not in class because I had a baseball game.

Power Point Day

Today, we stayed inside and worked on our power point project. I collected a lot of information and now i need to find a real artifact from back then to compare it to. Alex and Brain worked on trying to find a real dig site we can visit. We also talked more about our field trip.

Friday - March 27, 2009

Today we stayed inside again and we talked about the field trip we are taking next week. We are going to the museum in Houston on Thursday. We also got assigned our topic for the power point project that will count for our final. I am doing the baby skeleton and burlap sack/blue fabric.

Rainy Day - March 25, 2009

Today it rained so we stayed inside. We cleaned our tablet and Bravo team cleaned our skeleton and cleaned other things. Mr. Thames also bought us milkshakes from Whataburger. They were good and I thank you very much.

Absent

I was not in class today because we left early for a baseball game.

Monday - March 23, 2009

Today, Bravo team cleaned our skeletons while our team went outside and covered the dig site in with tarps. We covered them with tarps because it is suppose to rain tomorrow. Also, today we got new square supervisors. Analisa is Bravo's team square supervisor and Brant is our supervisor.

Rainy Day

Today it rained so we did not go outside. We took an oral test and then cleaned the tablet that we found on Friday. Bravo team cleaned the skeletons. We also had a fruit break today. GJ brought us watermelon.

Tuesday - March 10, 2009

Today we went outside and we uncovered the tablet that we found on Friday. Halfway through class, I had to go help Bravo team because Mr. Thames wanted them to finish their square. They did not finish but they got really close.

Cleaning the Skeleton

Today we cleaned the skeletons and the item that we found on Friday. I cleaned the item we found on Friday and it was hard because you could not use water and you could not push on it hard. Everyone else cleaned the skeleton. I am not sure what the other team did because we were outside and they were inside.

D1 - March 6, 2009

Today we worked on square D1. Brant hit something and chipped it into a lot of small pieces. Most of it is still barried so I am not sure what is in there. Bravo team found a lot of things and they are almost done with their square.

Block Day - March 4, 2009

Today we finished our square except we left the skeletons in because on Friday Mr. Thames is bringing a class out and he wants them to see the skeletons. I am excited that we are done. The other square is almost done. Mr. Thames said they should be done by next week.

Tuesday - March 3, 2009

Today we went outside and GJ and I worked on the wall in our square. Alex and Brant dug around the skeletons. The other team did not find anything. Mr. Thames says that we should finish our square this week. I am excited.

Tree Planting Day

Today we had nothing to clean, so we went outside and planted two trees in front of the site. We dug them up from the back of the site and then planted them in holes in front of the dig site. We only had time to plant two trees.

Not in Class - February 27, 2009

Today I was not in class because I had a baseball game.

Wednesday - February 25, 2009

Today we made a lot of progress. We dug down to the floor in most areas of the square. During break I went and got water for us. We also took starting and closing elevations. Today was ok but we did not find anything.

Tuesday - February 24, 2009

Today it was dry enough to go outside so we went outside. My team's square was still wet in the middle so Brant and I worked on the sides of the square while everyone else worked on D1. No one found anything today.

Monday - February 23, 2009

Today was a cleaning day and my group had nothing to clean so we went outside and took off the tarps. Then we went inside and watched Bravo team put a pot together. Today was a pretty boring day.

Friday - February 21, 2009

We actually went outside today but my team was not able to work because our square was too wet. Bravo team's square was dry, so they worked, but did not find anything. My team opened a new square D1 because we are almost done with C4. We also moved the shed and everything else to the other side away from D1.

National Treasure - February 18, 2009

We stayed inside again today and watched a movie. We watched National Treasure 2 and it was pretty good. It was my seventh time to see it. I don't think it is suppose to rain the rest of the week, so maybe we can go outside Friday.

Tuesday - February 17, 2009

Today we stayed inside and talked about the different ages in history like the Stone Age, Silver Age, and Bronze Age. We talked about the three three levels of Tel Ya'ar. Tel Ya'ar levels are the Romans, the Stone Age, and the Silver Age.

Friday - February 13, 2009

Today, my team's square was wet. We covered the square with a tarp but the tarp had a hole in it. The funny part was the skeletons were in water and it looked like they were swimming. Bravo team's square was fine so they worked on their square. GJ and I filled sand bags and it was really hard because of his shoulder.

Movie Day - February 11, 2009

Today we did not go outside because Tel Ya'ar was too wet. It rain really hard last night which forced us to stay inside. We looked at pictures and watched a movie.

Tuesday - February 10, 2009

Today was a short day and we did not find anything. We dug on the opposite side of the skeletons. We were trying to make our square flat. At the in of class we covered the squares C4 and C1 with tarps because it is suppose to rain to night.

Cleaning Day - February 9, 2009

Today was a cleaning day. Our team cleaned rocks and a little piece of a pot. We did not have a lot to clean but Bravo team did. They cleaned broken pieces of pots, wood, and rocks. Then at the end of class we cleaned up. We wiped the tables and chairs.

Friday - February 6, 2009

Today we uncovered more of the skeleton. This was Alex's last day to be our square leader. I am not sure who our square leader will be after Alex. Also, the other square is switching square leaders from Ashlee to Tim.

Block Day-February 4, 2009

Today, we had a block day and we uncovered more of the skeletons. I carried buckets mainly. We are making a lot of progress of uncovering the skeletons. We also found a big block piece of concrete.

Tuesday - February 3, 2009

Today we went outside and we barely got anything done. We uncovered more of our skeletons but we were interrupted because the kindergarten class came outside. We helped them uncover an artifact and they had show-n-tell. We did not have time to take closing elevations either.

Monday - Feburary 2, 2009

Today, we stayed inside an cleaned the artifacts. My team (alpha team) had no artifacts to clean, so we helped bravo team clean their artifacts. We also had a donut that Mr. Thames brought us. The last thing we did was look at artifacts that Mr. Thames brought back from his trip this summer.
